12 Honey Crisp Apples
1 cup sugar
1 pound butter, room temperature
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup raisins
Peel and remove the core of the apples, then cut into pieces and place in a bowl. Add 1/3 cup of sugar, half the amount of brown sugar and the raisins. Move the apple mixture into an oven proof bowl and bake, covered, at 375° for about 30 minutes or until the apple are tender. Remove and chill for 1-2 hours.
Place the remaining sugar, brown sugar, and flour in a mixing bowl and mix well. Begin adding the butter by pressing down with a fork. Continue until the mixture creates small balls.
Place the cooled apples in a 9×13 baking dish and top with the sugar mixture. Bake in a 350° oven for 20-30 minutes, uncovered. Remove and chill. Serve hot or cold with a scoop of pumpkin gelato.
